A Morning At Canobie Lake Park

This morning, following a somewhat eventful night driving through the Blue Mountains in Vermont after leaving Six Flags Great Escape, we embarked on the first of two park visits scheduled for the day at Canobie Lake Park. Arriving promptly at opening time, we aimed to make the most of our visit by maximizing our time at the park.

The first impressions of the park exudes a reminiscent charm akin to Disneyland with its thematic elements. However, unlike dedicating specific areas of the park to a single theme, each ride boasts a unique and distinct atmosphere. Furthermore, the food stalls bear a striking resemblance to those found in a Rollercoaster Tycoon game. Despite the limited number of rollercoasters, we embarked on the first of the two major ones within the park.

The Yankee Cannonball

Starting off the day, the Yankee Cannonball was the initial rollercoaster experience. This particular ride is an out-and-back wooden rollercoaster that was originally constructed in 1930 and later moved to Canobie Lake in 1936. Despite featuring a modest 65ft tall drop, the ride proved to be smooth and offered enjoyable moments of floater air time. Considering its size, it stands out as a commendable wooden coaster.

Untamed

The following attraction of the day was Untamed. It is a compact Euro-fighter rollercoaster with a 72ft tall hill and a steep drop of 97 degrees. The coaster includes three inversions within its compact design. It offers decent hangtime, has supports painted to resemble birch wood, and features multiple bear statues in the area. Overall, this ride is likely the highlight coaster of the park. Visitors may observe that the rollercoasters and thrill rides in this park are relatively brief due to Canobie Lake's strict height restrictions for their attractions.

Other Park Rides & Overall

Due to a tight schedule, I opted the rest of the time to exploring the park and seeing all the neat themed rides on their midways. They also have one of the last roto rides around, which is the Turkish Twist. (I recommend trying out the Turkish Twist ride if you like calssic rides). Overall, this park has alot of charm and it is worth hititng if you are in Boston Massachussettes for the weekend.

To best appreciate this park, I recommend viewing the accompanying pictures below. Our next destination is Six Flags, New England.

As always, Keep Coast'n'

We have arrived at Canobie Lake!

The Yankee Cannonball is the first ride of the day

Upon entry, the park has many food stands that look like they are out of Roller Coaster Tycoon

I hear the Fried Dough is pretty good, so I cant resist!

A Wipeout themed to a Wipeout. Who would have thought?

A Chicken themed Flying Scooters Ride! All the flat rides here look so cool!

This may be the shortest drop tower i have ever seen, but they get an A+ for effort on the theming.

Next is the Bear Themed Crazy 72ft tall Euro-fighter coaster with a beyond vertical 97 degree drop. Need I Say More?

If you look closely in the twisted track, you can see marks which make the ride supports look like birch trees

The ride has a bear themed car as well as a lodge themed station with mini hand carved bears. So, we can assume that Untamed is clearly about Bears,

This attraction perfectly captures the essence of Italian architecture down to a tee.

The Boston area has Fried Clams! When they are open of course.

You cant go to Boston without having a Boston Tea Party

The noise restrictions are very strict, requiring the Boston Tea Party ride to have a scream shield over its drop. The scream shield on this ride is much more aesthetically pleasing compared to the ones on Maliboomer at California Adventure.

The Turkish Twist is a rare rotor ride and is one of the few remaining in existence. It is a unique and fun attraction.

Rest in Piece Canobie Corkscrew

Thanks for reading and were onto Six flags New England next!
