Following my visit to the Huntsville Space Center in Alabama, I made my way to Bowling Green, KY, where I planned to visit the Corvette Museum and Mammoth Caves the next morning. However, for tonight's entertainment, I decided to explore a lesser-known family park called Beech Bend Park.
Beech Bend Park stands out for its close proximity to a Racing Drag Strip, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy an extra thrilling attraction during races. Moreover, the park is home to a remarkable waterpark featuring a spacious Olympic-size swimming pool, a rare feature in parks, and a fantastic array of slides alongside its amusement park offerings.
On the the rides!
Kentucky Rumbler
I spent the majority of my time at the amusement park on one side, where I quickly made my way to the Kentucky Rumbler. This attraction is widely regarded as the premier wooden rollercoaster in Kentucky, standing at 96ft tall and reaching speeds of 47mph. Spanning 2,827ft of twisted track that intersects multiple times, the ride features a few rough patches, but its overall layout makes up for them. After that, I proceeded to the next roller coaster, The Wild Mouse.
Wild Mouse
What can I say about the Wild Mouse at Beech Bend? Well This bad boy sticks to the classic spinning Wild Mouse blueprint you've seen in countless other parks. Towering at a whopping 42.7ft, this ride will have you twisting and turning through a wild series of hairpin bends before plummeting down a massive drop. But wait, there's more! What really makes this coaster stand out is its signature shaky-shaky motion that you can't miss, even if you're just chilling on the ground. Am I being to enthusiastic? Most Definitely! Moving On.
Spinning Out
This attraction features the standard figure-eight design of the SBF Visa model. In essence, riders are seated in a spinning car that navigates a figure-eight track on a compact rollercoaster. It is essentially a scaled-down version of the experience you get on their Wild Mouse coaster.
The Haunted House
If I were to suggest my favorite attraction at the park, the Haunted House stands out as the preferred option. This ride embodies the classic dark ride ambiance reminiscent of parks from the WWII period. It provides budget-friendly excitement and eerie sound effects that effectively create jump scares.
ScatII
Despite its puzzling name, ScatII stands out as a distinctive flat ride not commonly found in other parks. It bears resemblance to the typical monster rides seen elsewhere, but with the added option of entering two spinning enclosures with fellow riders. In conclusion, this ride is indeed one-of-a-kind.
Michael Jacksons Sea Dragon
Which park offers the opportunity to ride Michael Jackson's Sea Dragon? Originally situated at Neverland Ranch, Beech Bend Park acquired the attraction following the unexpected passing of the pop star. The Sea Dragon stands out for featuring Michael Jackson's music playing during the entire ride. Each swing is accompanied by a "Hee-hee" from the late pop star. If you appreciate a ride with a historical touch, this one is a must-try.
After riding the Sea Dragon, I left the park and got my lodging for the night. Overall, Beech bend is a charming little park. I recommended hitting it on your way to the Mammoth caves or the Corvette Museum.
Pictures of the park are below. And keep on Coast 'n'
Behold, The Kenutcky Rumbler. This ride gives some minature Thunderhead vibes.
Wild Mouse at Beech Bend has to be the scariest Wild Mouse ride I have been on. This ride is the definition of Shake-n-bake.
I drive tire propelled ride that spins? Count me in!
Its Michael Jacksons Sea Dragon!
There's the certificate of authenticity.
That's all for now!
