After spending the morning at Canobie Lake Park today, I headed to Six Flags New England, which was a few hours away, to try out some of the rides. Fortunately, upon my arrival, there were few people, indicating a promising day with a good chance of experiencing all the attractions. This park first of all has a very unique layout. Most of the park is in a straight line unless you are going down the hill towards Superman or are in the Mainstreet area of the park. The first ride of the day would end up being Superman: Ride of Steel.
Superman Ride of Steel
Let me begin by mentioning that the features of this roller coaster promise an exciting experience. It includes a 220ft tall hill leading into a tunnel, several large airtime hills, and a thrilling finale with twists and another tunnel. Nevertheless, the T-Block restraints on this ride can be extremely uncomfortable for your thighs. After the ride, my legs felt like jelly. While I appreciate the ride's attractions, the restraints unfortunately make it less enjoyable for repeated rides.
Catwomans Whip
Following was the Catwoman's Whip, a family roller coaster featuring an extended figure-eight layout and remarkably long trains. While the ride did not deliver a high level of excitement, its standout feature was the impressive layout, particularly due to the length of its trains.
Riddler Revenge
The Riddler Revenge was similar to the Mind Eraser at Six Flags Darien Lake that I tried earlier during the trip. However, it featured the new Vekoma vest restraint trains designed to reduce head banging during the ride. Despite anticipating a potentially painful experience with its five inversions, the suspended looping roller coaster turned out to be tolerable. While it wasn't amazing, it didn't spoil my day, so I consider it acceptable.
The Joker
The Joker is a rollercoaster with cars hanging off the track, spinning unexpectedly, and sometimes flipping passengers upside down as they move along the course. It's essentially an opportunity to experience being a piece of clothing in a washing machine. I experienced some nausea on this ride, so I needed to pause for a break before heading to Batman Knight Flight.
Batman Knight Flight
The Six Flags website raised my expectations by mentioning the opportunity to visit a Batcave and view Wayne's technologies before going on the ride. However, all I found in line were cardboard cutouts of Batman villains. Perhaps we were meant to envision ourselves in the Batcave. Nonetheless, the floorless rollercoaster was satisfactory, featuring four inversions and a well-designed layout for its size. It outperformed Rougarou at Cedar Point but fell short of the greatness of Hydra. In conclusion, it was an acceptable experience.
Thunderbolt
Following a spin on Batman Knight Flight, I made my way towards the front of the park to hop on the Thunderbolt. This classic wooden rollercoaster boasted the longest queue throughout the day. Despite being somewhat rough and lacking intensity, it serves as a decent option for those not yet prepared for the taller rides in the park.
Gotham City Gauntlet
The next attraction is the Gotham City Gauntlet, which turned out to be the most intense wild mouse ride I had ever experienced. Its roughness was so extreme that it left me wishing for pain relief. Given the discomfort I was already feeling, I decided to brave the park's boomerang rollercoaster, Flashback.
Flashback
This attraction was essentially similar to its counterpart at Six Flags Darien Lake, except that the level of head banging was increased significantly. Without much else to add, let's move on to the park's spinning roller coaster.
Pandemonium
Following an intense and thrilling experience on the flashback ride, it was now time to let go of all worries by riding the spinning rollercoaster at the park. This attraction featured a good amount of spinning along its track. My only complaint is that the seating arrangement is somewhat awkward, as it has riders facing each other in the cars. Moving on to the last rollercoaster of the Six Flags New England Infinity Gauntlet.
Wicked Cyclone
Undoubtedly, Wicked Cyclone stands out as the top rollercoaster at Six Flags New England. With its numerous unpredictable turns, overbanks, and surprising inversions, the ride offers exhilarating moments of floater air time. Personally, I dare to state that I prefer this RMC over Steel Vengeance, although my opinion may shift after experiencing Steel Vengeance during my annual Halloweekends visit. In conclusion, Wicked Cyclone is a definite highlight that should not be missed at the park.
In my opinion, Six Flags New England is one of the better mid-tier Six Flags parks. Some areas could definitely use updating, but overall, the park was quite clean. The staff could also improve as the customer service was not great. However, I would consider visiting again if I were in the area.
Pictures are below, as always, keep Coast'n'
Welcome to the Six Flags that is in New England!
Leading up to the park, there is some excellent M&M's product placement
Heading into the park, Thunderbolt is front and center.
Entering the D.C Area, this man might be Lex Luther? I couldnt tell ya.
Beneath Superman's Twisty section is the only Daily Planet Ford Reporting Van. I believe it may have a flat tire.
It is amazing how much space this ride takes up in the park
Fun fact, beyond the highest hill of superman Ride of Steel is the Massachusetts river. In case you were wondering of course.
Catwoman's Whip has to be the friendliest family rollercoaster around.
Riddle me this, what happens when your replace over the shoulder restraints with vest restraints? Oh wait, that's not a riddle, Well either way its less head banging
I still feel dizzy from that human washing machine, even without the water.
I still have flashbacks to the pain....
The Dark Knight is in the distance
This attraction is really awesome. It's like a fun house that creates the illusion of being upside down when you're actually not while sitting on a long bench.
I'm getting some tiki room vibes here.
This is quite a storm of an attraction. I would say its the best attraction in the park. Sorry Superman...
Fun fact: This used to be Mr. Six's Pandemonium
That's all for now! On to the coast!
